Radiators and flow temperature
Heat pumps are most efficient at lower flow temperatures. Some radiators may need upgrading to larger sizes so rooms stay warm. We'll assess each room.
Hot water cylinder
Heat pumps usually work with a hot water cylinder. We're G3 qualified to install unvented cylinders, so this is handled in the same job.
Grant funding
Through our MCS-certified partner, we can help you access government grant funding for heat pumps. We'll explain how this works when we quote.
How efficient is a heat pump?
Heat pumps move heat rather than generating it by burning fuel, which is why they can deliver more heat energy than the electricity they use. How efficiently yours runs depends on the design of the system, the flow temperature, the size of the radiators and how well the home holds heat. A properly designed system makes the biggest difference to running costs.
Is my home suitable?
Most homes can have a heat pump, but some need preparation first. We look at insulation, the size and condition of your radiators, the space for an outdoor unit and a hot water cylinder, and your electrical supply. If there's work needed to make a heat pump perform well, we'll tell you upfront rather than leaving you with a system that struggles.
Heat pump or new boiler?
For some homes, a heat pump is a great fit. For others, a new high-efficiency gas boiler is still the more practical choice right now. Because we install both, we can give you an honest comparison, including the extended warranties of up to 13 years available on new boilers and the grant funding available for heat pumps through our MCS-certified partner.
Outdoor unit placement
The outdoor unit needs space around it for airflow and should be positioned thoughtfully in relation to windows and neighbours. We'll plan the position during the survey.
